Transitional housing

Transitional (or "move-on") housing is time-limited — usually 6 months to 2 years — with lighter-touch support and a plan. The goal is simple: you leave ready and able to hold your own tenancy. Think of it as the bridge between crisis and independence.

Who it's for

  • People moving on from hostels or refuges
  • Care leavers taking their first step to independence
  • People leaving prison who need a stable address
  • Anyone who's had support and is nearly — but not quite — ready to rent alone

What you'll need

  • Willingness to work with a key worker on a move-on plan
  • Usually a referral from your current service — self-referral often accepted too
  • Benefits are fine — most placements are benefit-funded
💙 Not sure if you qualify? Apply anyway or message the provider — the worst that happens is we point you somewhere better suited. You won't be charged for anything on Tenvia.
