Tenvia ("we", "us") is the UK's benefit-friendly housing platform, operated from the United Kingdom. We know that many people using Tenvia are in difficult circumstances, so we hold ourselves to a simple standard: we collect the minimum we need to help you find or fill a home, we never sell your data, and we tell you plainly what happens with it. Questions or requests any time: hello@tenvia.co.uk.
Everyone with an account: name, email address, password (stored encrypted — we can never see it), and the messages you send on the platform. Home-seekers: optionally, information about your situation (for example that you receive benefits, are leaving care, or need support) and anything you tell us in a "what I need" request. Some of this is sensitive information — see below. Providers and landlords: organisation details, company or CQC registration numbers, a phone number for verification, and photos you upload of your properties. We also keep basic technical logs (such as when you sign in) to keep the platform secure.
Details about your health, support needs or circumstances count as special category data under UK GDPR. You choose whether to share them; we process them only with your consent, and only to match you with suitable housing and support your application. Refuge-related information is handled with additional confidentiality — locations are never published and staff access is limited.
To run your account and the platform (legal basis: contract); to match your requests with suitable homes and alert you (contract and, for sensitive details, consent); to verify providers and keep the platform free of fraud and abuse, including automated screening of messages for contact details shared against our rules (legitimate interests); and to send you service emails such as match alerts and application updates. We do not send marketing without asking first, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
When you apply for a home, the provider sees your name and your application messages — never your contact details until you are accepted. Your "what I need" requests are visible only to the Tenvia team, never to other users. Our service providers (hosting: Vercel; database: Neon, hosted in London; email delivery: Resend) process data on our behalf under contracts that meet UK GDPR requirements. We may disclose information if the law requires it or if someone's safety is at serious risk.
Your account data is kept while your account is open. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep records longer (for example fraud prevention or legal obligations).
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@tenvia.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Tenvia uses one essential cookie: it keeps you signed in. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers.
Tenvia is for people aged 16 and over. Some supported housing on the platform is designed for young people aged 16–25; providers of those services follow their own safeguarding obligations.
If we make meaningful changes to this policy we'll tell you by email or on the site before they take effect.
